Importance of Accreditation

Trevor Thomas

"I will graduate with a B.F.A. in Visual Art with an emphasis in painting. I began drawing at a very early age and was encouraged by my family and my love of Impressionists painters. I'm intrigued by the effects of color and light, and include Impressionist techniques in my work. I appreciate all the experiences I've had at Belhaven and hope to make art more accessible to all interested students in the future."

Tia LeMahieu

"I love Belhaven's community based environment and the faculty and staff that genuinely desire to see us excel academically and spiritually."

Tia LeMahieu

"I want to work in the graphic design industry and continue portrait photography. I love working with kids and summer camps; I hope to somehow utilize my skills in those areas."

Kristen McCann

Megan Prosper

"I chose Belhaven because I wanted to attend a school that had both Visual Arts and Biblical Studies. After meeting the faculty and seeing how much they cared about every student, I was sold!"

Haley Franklin

"I explore my love of nature through both photography and painting. My photographs focus on capturing the hidden and sometimes overlooked features of life. I also paint landscapes and mixed media collages incorporating organic and industrial materials found in every day life."

Haley Franklin

Mollie Jones

"At Belhaven, I immediately felt at home and with the help from my peers and professors, I began to develop my voice as an artist. I enjoy exploring organic and geometric patterns through graphic design, drawing, and mixed-media sculptures."

Mollie Jones

Lilly Perkins

"I will graduate with a B.F.A in Visual Art. My journey as an artist was inspired by my fiancé and mother-in-law. It was actually my fiancé’s pursuit of his artistic dreams which inspired me to pursue my own passion for art. I use double exposure photography to focus on the world around me through an intimate perspective."

Lilly Perkins

Zacchaeus Cloy

"I'm excited to graduate with a B.F.A in Graphic Design and a B.A. in Music. I plan to pursue music education and freelance art and design work after graduating. My drawings and sculpture are built from layers of intuitive marks and forms."

"I chose to attend Belhaven because of the nice size of the campus and I can get to know everybody and interact with my professors more. Because of my degree from Belhaven, I plan on going into a form of video game design. I see myself involved in some sort of graphic design company in the near future."

Lacadric Bronson

"I chose Belhaven because here the professors are concerned with teaching you to foster your own personal art-making process and developing you as a working, independent artist."

Hannah Gillis

"Belhaven is a unique place to study art. I never would have had the confidence to pursue this degree anywhere else."

Sarah Guinn

"The Art Department at Belhaven is like no other department I’ve seen. The professors truly love what they teach and actively practice in their own art processes. My favorite part about this department is the community student studios!  Having the freedom to see what other classmates are working on is an inspiration and a learning tool to better understanding what art is."

Melissa Gentry

"Our art department is extremely beneficial for my personal mindset, career goals and my future career. My professors are patient with me as I build my self-confidence as an artist. Since coming to Belhaven, I know that these are some of the best years of my life. I have already made lifelong connections here."

Ollie Porter

Caleb Moak

"I"ll graduate with a B.A. in Tradigital Studies, with an emphasis in sculpture. I use 3D prints and discarded plastic filament to create abstract sculptures. I'm inspired by metalworkers and emerging technologies, so my work reflects the many possibilities of machines used in unusual ways. I also use unconventional methods of digital photography, such as laser engraving my photos into glass."

Caleb Moak

Lamana Stringfellow

"When I came here, I was struck by the loving community that Belhaven offered and encouraged. I was able to pursue my love of art within multiple forms of expression and cultivate a love of God through them. My experience here has been very encouraging."

Lamana Stringfellow. 2023
